what do I need to buy for Sirius radio?

April 9th, 2010 | by admin |

i know i need the antenna and the dashboard part, but when i asked about it at best buy they gave me this long speech about how i also need this extra antenna. they said it was because the fcc restricted the radio waves and without this extra antenna the signal would be fuzzy. i asked my friend about it who has sirius and he said thats bs. any second opinions?

Well, I don’t know what kind of "extra antenna" that Best Buy is trying to sell you, but you do need an antenna. Most aftermarket satellite radio antennas I’ve see are of the "dot" type made to be installed on the vehicle glass. The antenna should come with your satellite receiver. If you are buying it 2nd hand and need a separate antenna, look to see which type of connection the receiver has. Most newer satellite radios will have a single-input round antenna jack. Some older models will have two square antenna inputs.

You’ll also need a subscription which is $12.99 per month. Oh! and you have no alternate choices. XM and Sirius are one and the same.
