Internet Connection for Remote Location?
November 8th, 2009 | by admin |I have a remote office located 20mi in the countryside. I know its possible to get internet through satellite, but I heard radio is also an option (VHF? CB?). Correct me if I’m wrong but I think WiFi is for short distances. I also thought it could be possible to share my office internet connection thru a radio link instead of hiring a wISP.
Would I need repeaters? What equipment would be good for the task? is it expensive? other ideas? Thanks!
There’s no cell phone coverage at the moment.
Do you have cell phone coverage at the remote site? If so, Mobile Broadband is probably the way to go. I assume you can’t get DSL on the phone line (if there is one). A radio link would be possible, but not practical.
