Opie & Anthony show on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. The people in studio are Anthony Cumia (host)- he’s the one throwing the quips, Greg Hughes (host, Opie)-silent or not there in this segment, Jim Norton (comedian)- the crabby sounding guy who has a choice description of Perry near the end, Jim Jeffries (comedian) sitting in – he’s the guy with the accent and Louis CK (comedian) is the one with the story.

I wonder how many drinks Perry got after this that had a taint sweat finger dipped in it.

Yesterday the honor was bestowed upon me to spend the day at ELR, I was invited by Cafe Director and Curator, Zat Baraka. Upon arriving at ELR I knew it was going to be a good day when it only took me twenty seconds to find parking! If you know your way around Santa Monica you certainly understand why I was so happy. If you’re not familiar with Santa Monica, finding parking that fast is like finding a twenty dollar bill in an old pair of pant LUCKY!

Luck really had nothing to do with it as it were, it just so happens that ELR is located in a perfect location only blocks from the Pacific Ocean flush against an eclectic residential neighborhood and other shops. Zat mentioned to me that everyone in Santa Monica calls the area the “Green Light District”.

After parking my jeep (I know bad Echo, somebody give me a Prius) I made my way inside and was greeted by all the staff with huge smiles and laughter it was quite infectious! Immediately I noticed that the music that was playing in the background wasn’t your typical “Muzak” or satellite radio. Instead I heard carefully selected tunes from India other far off exotic places. I’m a big fan for ambiance so good music is key and that can also be said for decor and artwork all of which ELR was representing to the fullest!

After chatting up the staff I sat down with Zat and mapped out the day. We discussed what kind of video we would shoot, what the content would be, etc. We eventually got around to talking about trying some of the foods as you might of guessed my eyes lit up and I practically jumped out of my seat when Zat said he had a new dish that wasn’t even on the menu and he wanted me to try it out (Macro Bowl Salad)!

So after hashing out a rough outline of what the day would look like Zat graciously showed me around the restaurant, introduced me to the kitchen staff and kept stuffing food down my throat (I was all too happy). While in the kitchen founder and co-owner of ELR Matt Amsden stopped in to whip himself up a quick on the go salad and I got a nice introduction and handshake. My only regret is that I didn’t get to meet his partner in crime and wife Janabai Owens-Amsden. Maybe next time I’ll catch the both of them and get an interview!

Eventually we got around to the “Holy Macro Salad” prepared by Chef Rolo. Chef Rolo is an awesome guy who as it turns out had his own cooking show in Mexico not too long ago, so he was a natural for the camera! After the good chef threw down his mad-skills we were off to the dining area and I prepared to try this new recipe.

I sat down and eagerly took my first bite and just as fast as I took it, Zat chimed in man you gotta get some of that Fofu! I raised my eyebrow at his eagerness then followed his instructions. To his credit Zat is a great man but he should of told me even faster because every second I was wasting picking around that wonderful cashew fofu was a second wasted of my life! Whew baby this wonderful treat was so delicious and tasty I nearly ran back into the kitchen to secure myself whatever they had stored away so that I could take it home and have it all to myself! Along with the salad came three Jalapeño Poppers and let me tell you they tasted just like if not better than the ones you’re used to only these bad boys are healthy and good for you!

For dessert I was surprised by another new dish making its way onto the menu a heart shaped “Ice Cream Cookie” and yeah you guessed right it’s 100% Raw! The dessert was absolutely mouth watering and truly something I wish everyone could try. I think perhaps if people can experience the sweeter side of Raw foods they might be more inclined to give it a try!

After dessert Zat surprised me with one last treat for the day a Coconut Kefir Lemonade with Goji Berries and Chlorophyll, all I can say is yum, yum for my tum tum. This was the perfect drink to end the perfect day at one of the finest Raw food restaurants I’ve ever had the chance to eat at.

The XKR features a supercharged engine puffed up to produce 420 hp and 412 lb-ft of torque. It can take you 0-60 in around 4.9 seconds. This car was loaded with options from Jaguar. Major features include 20″ 10-Spoke Alloy Wheels, Satellite radio, heated steering wheel, a specialized aluminum and walnut interior trim, and power-folding mirrors. The interior also has upgraded leather on the dash and door. It also comes with a great sounding Alpine audio system with subwoofer.

It is full of sophisticated safety features keeping you and your passengers safe. The Jaguar XKR comes with front-seat side airbags (that provide both head and chest protection), whiplash-reducing front seats, traction control, antilock brakes and stability control. The traction control can be activated at the push of a button located on the center console.
